Markets are sideways, coronavirus, lack of toilet paper, the world’s gone mad. I may have to cancel my trip to the UK. But at least it’s warming up from winter and the sun is out. I also may have to plan a trip to a wrecking yard a bit away for some photography, because there is some really neat old stuff down there.

Assuming you are not among the populations particularly at risk, if anything you should cancel parts of your trip but then immediately rebook them somewhere posher to take advantage of low travel prices...maybe add a side trip while you’re at it.

As with all things sadness, a Roughriders game will be the catalyst.

We were going to go to London, Dublin, and Edinburgh. Still a month and a half until I’m supposed to leave, so we’ll see how things pan out.

Oh, I know. And it’s going to get much worse before it gets better.

I’d run out and make sure you contract the virus now. Should have minimal effects, and you’ll be done with any symp toms in about a month. Then you have the added benefit that when you return you won’t be contagious.

Just a suggestion.

10/10: Can relate. I feel certain my school district will shut down schools before this is all over and I am stockpiling supplies for some home projects to complete whilst I am off. Re-roofing my work area behind the garage, leveling the refrigerator in the kitchen, maybe doing some woodworking...

Went to Calgary coup le weekends ago from Houston. I’m not sure if we brought it there or took it back. Banff and Lake Louise are beautiful, but stop letting filthy US tourists in lol.

Keeping it automotive, my rental midsize sedan was a bit larger than expected (14.1L/100km, which actually was not bad):

My parents are in the UK now. They say the Brits are being pretty calm about the whole thing, though Oxford just canceled the event they went over there for.

That is a midsize in Alberta.

There’s some evidence that it might be possible to get reinfected, though the situation isn’t clear. There have been cases where people appeared to be reinfected, but they could have something else, or it could be their infection wasn’t done in the first place. Testing isn’t effective at determining if someone has it a second time because it’s looking for ant i bo dies, which will be present post-infection in some quantity whether you are actively infected or not.

O n the bright side, my Jeep is finally done with the transmission rebuild.

On the dark side, I can’t trivially return my rental and pick it up, given that I’m spewing influenza virii everywhere I go. Argh.

Just get the dealer to drop off your Jeep and then set fire to the rental.

Yeah, it’s certainly not a good plan (there is a second, original strain, but that appears to only be in Wuhan) and who knows if there will be a third strain.

While I was being sar castic, I’d rather get it sooner than later, assuming most of us will get it anyway at some point.
